Are you tired of...
- Not being able to chew properly
- Looking like youre frowning all the time
- Having plastic on the roof of your mouth
- Using dental adhesives
If so, you can replace those dentures forever with dental implants.
Implants are small titanium fixtures placed directly in the jawbone,
serving as the root for a replacement tooth. Attaching a replacement tooth to an implant
allows us to avoid placing a bridge. You can use implants to replace a single missing
tooth or several.
What are the advantages to getting an implant?
- Implants are practically indistinguishable from your natural
teeth. They are fitted so securely that they allow you to chew and speak without
the worry of them moving.
- Can last you a lifetime, if placed properly.
- Healthy adjacent teeth are not touched so their strength and integrity are maintained.
- The implant replaces the roots of a missing tooth which helps
to fen off the bone loss that occurs when a tooth is missing.
Who is a good candidate for implants?
People with poorly fitting dentures or with multiple missing
teeth who need support for crowns and bridges.
How long is the entire process from start to finish?
It can take anywhere from a few months to a year to complete
treatment because it can take about four to six months for the implant to fuse to
your bone tissue. Once the implant is attached to the bone then a crown is placed.
Is it painful?
No. Some people experience minor swelling, but no pain at all.
It is essential that you follow your Doctors instructions carefully to assure safe
and rapid healing. Routinely, people go back to work the next day.
We dont recommend an implant if you suffer from a chronic illness
such as diabetes, as this can interfere with healing. And if youre a smoker, you may
not be a good candidate for an implant. Smokers are at greater risk for gum disease
which weakens the bone and soft tissue needed to support the implant.
What is the first step?
As with any treatment plan, the first step is to schedule a
complementary consultation
