Dr. Chris as The Joan Rivers of Smiles

The Enquirer gets the dish from Dr. Chris!

Dr. Chris Kammer was interviewed by the National Enquirer about the best and worst celebrity smiles. The article, The Tooth About Star Smiles (pg. 26) is on stands now with a cover date of March 15th. In the article, Dr. Kammer weighs in with the rest of the red carpet experts on 2004's best accessory...those pearly whites of course! The full article is below!

Winning an Oscar isn't just about acting. Teeth may play an important role in deciding who gets an Academy Award-and who is left down in the mouth, according to an expert.

"The secret to success just might be an unforgettable smile," Chris Kammer, a founding member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, told Planet Tab.

"Even the bold and the beautiful can boost their looks by simply improving their smile."

Dr. Kammer; who calls himself the "Joan Rivers of Smiles," happily surveyed the Oscar scene present and past to rate the toothsome contenders - and to pass along some advice to those who are in need of a brighter smile.

Jack Nicholson:

"What's nice about his smile is its broad, and hes got some definitely masculine features in his teeth," said Dr. Kammer. "Masculine features are where your teeth have more right angles to them, where they're worn down a little bit, a little flatter. Hes got what I call a good smile line in that the edges of his teeth follow that curve of his lower lip."

Charlize Theron:

"Shes got a beautiful smile. I like that it radiates so nicely - it goes from one corner of her mouth to the other. It really fills her mouth out when she smiles. And she's got nice white teeth."

Diane Keaton:

"From the side it looks like she could use a little bit of a smile lift. There's a little overexposure of her gum tissue. The gums droop down, and it's preferable to just see teeth."

Renee Zellweger:

"If I had to pick someone who had some cosmetic dentistry done I would pick her. Her tops look perfect, they have a nice feminine quality, theyre very soft and the angles are rounded. But her lowers look natural. Its a nice balance between her beautiful upper smile and her lower teeth."

Bill Murray:

"What teeth I can see look like they've been sheared off, flattened with age. Theyve probably been worn down from stressful clenching and grinding. I would give him a little bit of a longer tooth through crowns or veneers on his upper teeth. That would give him a more youthful appearance."

Johnny Depp:

"His teeth could use some straightening. Also, a lower tooth appears to be tipped in a little bit and it creates a dark area- like a pirate!"

Nicole Kidman:

"Shes so pretty, but her teeth appear to be too tiny, almost like little baby teeth. If she could get a bigger smile, show less gum, she'd be off the charts. Its a simple procedure where we move the gum line and expose more teeth. We can do it with a laser."

Ewan McGregor:

"He almost has a reverse smile. If youve worn your front teeth down and your canines are still just a bit on the long side, you get a reverse smile line. That gives you more of an aged appearance. Hes got a bit of a drooping gum on his side as well, which makes his back teeth look too tiny."
