Half A Century of Smiles: Dr. Jack Kammer Celebrates Career Milestone
HALF A CENTURY OF BEAUTIFUL SMILES:
Dr. Jack Styles Kammer celebrates an impressive milestone and is still going strong!
(Madison, WI - September 9, 2003) This month, the Center for Cosmetic
Dentistry proudly announces the 50th anniversary of practice for its founding
father, Dr. Jack Styles Kammer. Dr. Kammer began his impressive dental career August 10, 1953.
Four years later, he opened his first and only practice, J. S. Kammer and Associates, which
would eventually evolve into the Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. Today, the busy dental
practice has become a world class leader in the field of cosmetic dentistry with four doctors
and a team of employees twenty-five strong.
Dr. Jack Kammer's major contribution to the field of cosmetic dentistry
has been as the founding father of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).
Established in 1984, the AACD has become the largest dental organization in the world dedicated
to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. Today, the AACD has over 5,000 active members in
the U.S. and in 40 other countries, and strives to keep its members on the cutting edge of
cosmetic dentistry, as well as offering public programs. These include a free consumer referral
service and the award winning "Give Back a Smile" (GBAS) program which provides cosmetic dental
care for domestic abuse survivors. In 2001, the AACD was awarded one of only eight National
Summit Awards in the association's Advance America Program for its efforts in establishing GBAS.
Prior to the AACD, Dr. Kammer also founded the American Academy of Dental Group Practice in 1972.
In addition to his professional accolades, Dr. Jack Kammer has been no
stranger to community involvement during his long career. Anyone familiar with local holiday
rituals, will certainly 'light up' at the mention of the annual University Trees; a tradition
started by Kammer in 1995. Every late November, for almost a decade, he plays Santa to Madison
by stringing over 120,000 lights on the 228 arborvitae trees along University Avenue outside of
his office. Dr. Kammer planted the trees eighteen years ago and maintains them today to an
identical height of 6-7 feet for the impressive display each winter.
Dr. Jack Kammer resides in Madison, with his wife Lois, of 54 years. He
remains in practice with his son and CEO of Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Chris Kammer.
Father and son are currently looking forward to the next phase of development for the practice
with an upcoming move into state-of-the-art medical/dental spa facilities. This impressive new
location will be a part of the Discovery Springs development project in Middleton and is scheduled
for completion in mid 2004. Dr. Chris Kammer commented on his father's impressive career
milestone: "With all of the dentists that have been trained by the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry, it is easy to say that my father's efforts have helped bring beautiful smiles to
hundreds of thousands of people around the world. We are honored to carry on his vision!"
The Center for Cosmetic Dentistry is located in Doctor's Park off of
University Avenue, in the Shorewood Hills area. For more information on Dr. Jack Kammer's
